Currently Beta covers the academic area Operations Management and neighboring areas. The new scope consists of Operations Management and the interfaces with neighboring areas. The ambition of Beta is to be the academic platform within the Netherlands for that new scope. Beta will provide specialized PhD courses and will organize a yearly conference where all involved professors, PhD students and postdocs meet.

As announced on November 24, 2016, Maastricht University, Wageningen University and Research, and VU Amsterdam will join Beta per 1 January 2017. Further Beta will continue its collaboration with TRAIL, so that also members of the other larger OM groups in The Netherlands can join for PhD courses and the yearly conference.
