In an effort to reduce CO2 emissions and limit their impact on climate change, research is being done on how CO2 from industrial processes can be harnessed and converted into useful industrial chemicals before it reaches the atmosphere. The conversion of a waste product, such as CO2, into more valuable products is a process called valorization, and to date this has not been employed at a large scale as a method for reducing CO2 emissions.
