Staffing shortages and rising costs are bottlenecks in healthcare, putting pressure on delivering the right care, at the right time, in the right place, by the right employee, in the right circumstances in the VVT sector (nursing, care and home care). This PhD research aims to develop a decision support system that optimally coordinates the delivery chains of care, goods, and services. It supports extramuralization, by arranging the regional care ecosystem in a medically responsible, economically feasible and climate-neutral way as much as possible. The first focus of the PhD research is to identify and model the caregivers’ requirements to improve their working conditions and improve the capacity. Finally, all requirements, from logistic partners, clients and caregivers, will be integrated into a comprehensive mathematical model to support decision-making.
