Title:

Operations Research & Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Road Transport

University:

Eindhoven University of Technology

Supervisor(s):

Tom Van Woensel, Albert Schrotenboer
The research project aims to provide hybrid AI and OR methods for planning sustainable road transport, in close collaboration with our industry partner Van der Wal, a logistics service provider in Netherlands. The focus of the research is to expand the Truck and Trailer Problem with real-life constraints, including driver preferences, road transport regulations, asset limitations, stochastic travel times, and stochastic on-site service times of loading and unloading of the vehicles. The end goal of the research project is to develop algorithms that can be part of a decision support tool for a transport system of any size with a clear sustainability focus.
